First Look {Girls on the Run – DC}

This morning I joined my friend and fellow photographer, Emily, for the Girls on the Run Spring 5K at Anacostia Park in DC.  The morning may have been a little wet, but that didn’t dampen the spirit and enthusiasm in the air!  It is always so amazing to watch the girls, coaches, running buddies, volunteers, and parents as they encourage and cheer!  Here’s a first look at some of the images from today…

Emily - Gorgeous as always!

A Day in the Life Session

A few weeks ago I got to spend the afternoon with Miss {K} and her mom for a Day in the Life session.  Miss {K} showed me all the activities she loves at home including coloring, exploring outside, doing puzzles, and making chocolate cookies!  Mmmm….  What a fun (and delicious afternoon!)

Food Friday {Cupcakes!}

This week’s Food Friday post features a very special guest baker (who also happens to be my favorite 10 year old in the whole world!)  Last summer, she discovered a book series at the library called, Confectionately Yours.  She recently read the 3rd book in the series, Confectionately Yours: Sugar and Spice.  Here is her review of the book: :)

Confectionately Yours: Sugar and Spice is a very good book because it uses real-life situations.  It is a great book for people who love sweets because after three or four chapters you get a recipe to try.  I would recommend this book and series to anyone I know.

The book contains several delightful sounding recipes and we decided to try the Peppermint Patty Cupcakes with Peppermint Frosting.  Even though it didn’t turn out quite as planned (some cupcakes got stuck in the muffin cups) we made the best of it and decided to make individual trifle-like desserts instead of all cupcakes.  It was delicious with the rich chocolate cake and cool peppermint frosting layered together!  I’m sure I shouldn’t share the actual recipe here but if you are interested you can check out the series!

And here is my special guest baker at work…

Grandma - So proud to have this cute little baker in our family. She is so fun to cook beside! Maybe I can taste some of those delicious cupcakes soon. :)

A Day in the Life Session

For a while now, I’ve wanted to try something a little different than the usual outdoor session.  I wanted to play with a more documentary style of photography and just capture kids being kids doing what they love.  So a couple of weeks ago, I spent the afternoon with Mr. {B} and his mom at their home.  He had lots to show me…his spiderman costume, pirate ships, his best funny face and his Star Wars room!  He taught me some of the newest Disney characters (it’s been a while I’m out of the preschool show loop) and showed me his Star Wars “yightsabers!”  We had a great time.  Here is a peek at our afternoon together.  I can’t wait to spend some time with his big brother next week!

Sneak Peek {Stafford Virginia Family Photographer}

Today was another beautiful spring afternoon and I was lucky to spend some time with the {G} family.  I photographed their oldest last month at preschool and today I was able to meet the whole family.  They were so sweet and the boys are SO cute!  Mr. {M} was very helpful, so proud of his baby brother, and even let me play with him on the playground when we were finished with pictures.:)  Here’s a little peek at this adorable family…

Megan - Paige, you are awesome! We had a fabulous time and I can’t wait to see the rest!
